Description from the seller
Star Wars #14, #16, #17 - Marvel Comics - Rare Mark Jewelers Insert Variant - Bronze Age
Description of the contents:
A exceptional trio of original Marvel Star Wars series issues from 1978 is up for sale. All three copies are in the highly rare Mark Jewelers version, characterized by the famous 4-page glossy jewelry advertisement insert in the center of the issue.
• Star Wars #14: "The Sound of Armageddon". Story set on a world in eternal war, starring Han Solo and Chewbacca.
• Star Wars #16: "The Hunter". Features the iconic appearance of bounty hunter Valance and the anthropomorphic rabbit Jaxxon.
• Star Wars #17: "Crucible". Special issue that delves into Luke Skywalker’s past on Tatooine.
The Mark Jewelers Rarity:
These variants were distributed almost exclusively at PX military exchanges on US bases around the world. It is estimated that they represent only 2-5% of the total print run of the era. Finding Star Wars in this version is particularly difficult because most copies ended up in war zones or remote bases, making surviving copies in good condition highly sought after.
Conditions and Details:
• Edition: Newsstand with barcode (essential for the MJ variant).
• Condition: The comics appear in excellent condition for their era (High Grade / VF). The covers have saturated colors and a shine rarely found in nearly 50-year-old books. The binding is solid and the central insert is intact in all issues.
• Protection: Already housed in individual protective bags with boards.
Shipping:
• Professional reinforced packaging to ensure integrity during transport.
• Tracked and insured shipping.
