The Tornado F3 is a variant of the Tornado jet that was introduced into service by the Royal Air Force (RAF) in 1986. It is designed for multirole operations, including air defense, reconnaissance and ground attack. The F3 variant is equipped with advanced weapons and systems, making it a versatile aircraft for a range of missions. It is powered by two Turbo Union RB199-34R engines, delivering a thrust-to-weight ratio of 1.5. The F3 variant is known for its agility and speed, with a maximum speed of over 2,200 km/h in the air and 1,100–1,200 km/h with weapons. It is equipped with a 27 mm cannon and can carry various air-to-air and air-to-ground missiles, including the AIM-120 AMRAAM and AIM-9L Sidewinder. The Tornado F3 has been in service since 1986 and has replaced older aircraft in the RAF fleet.
