Antique Edwardian Sterling Silver Pocket Mirror / Locket – Birmingham 1903
An original Edwardian sterling silver pocket mirror / locket, crafted in Birmingham, England, in 1903, as confirmed by a complete and clear set of British hallmarks.
The piece is fully hallmarked with:
Lion passant – sterling silver (.925)
Anchor – Birmingham assay office
Date letter “D” – corresponding to the year 1903
Maker’s mark: “C M D” – attributed to a reputable British silversmith active in the early 20th century
This elegant personal accessory was intended for everyday use, typically carried in a handbag or worn on a chain. Such mirrors were popular during the Edwardian period and are now highly sought after by collectors of antique silver and personal accessories.
The mirror retains its original glass, showing age-related patina and light oxidation consistent with its age. The silver surface displays a natural antique patina, which has been intentionally preserved. The hinge and closure are intact and functional.
