Attilio Forgioli (born 1933) mixed media on primed cardboard, 33 x 23 cm, signed and dated 1990. On the back, archive number. In 1953 he moved to Milan to attend the Brera Academy with Achille Funi and Mauro Reggiani. In Sicily, together with Pardi, Bonora, Castellaneta, Rossi and Attilio Del Comune, he forms the group Società Nuova. In 1978 he is invited to the Venice Biennale and to the São Paulo Biennial in Brazil. In 1992 he meets Marco Goldin, who will organize a wide retrospective at Palazzo Sarcinelli in Conegliano. In 1996 his friends from Val Sesia organize a show for him at Palazzo d’Adda in Varallo Sesia; once again he is presented by Marco Goldin and Vallora, and discussed in La Stampa by Marco Rosci. In October 1997 he exhibits for the first time at Galleria Appiani 32 in Milan. In 1999 at Galleria Bambaia, owned by friend Rebesco, and at Galleria Valerio in Brescia, a series of oil-on-paper works. In 2000 Marco Goldin organizes for him a retrospective of works at the Casa dei Carraresi in Treviso; the same show will be repeated in Trapani in 2000 and at Galleria Cefaly in Catania. Forgioli alternates his painting work between Milan and the Valsesia.
