Description from the seller
"Unspoken" 80x60 cm (Oval wooden stretcher bars)
"Unspoken explores the duality between our outward appearance and the silent inner world we all carry. While the choice of an oval format pays homage to classical portraiture, the fragmented technique used for the face brings the viewer into the present, suggesting that our identity is a complex puzzle of untold experiences.
I used thick, tactile textures to give physical volume to emotion, leaving the background clean and minimalist. This contrast is meant to highlight the character's isolation within their own thoughts—a moment captured where words are no longer necessary."
This captivating piece is a profound study of human duality and the tension between the public persona and the internal world. Executed in a visceral, neo-expressionist style, the artwork presents a male bust in a formal suit, creating a stark contrast with the chaotic deconstruction of the face.
The artist masterfully combines acrylic impasto with sharp marker details. While the suit and the serene blue background provide an ordered structure, the "explosion" of thick white, black, and flesh-toned textures on the face suggests a fragmented identity or a deep state of introspection. The use of markers adds a modern, graphic touch to the organic flow of the paint, highlighting the raw, unfinished nature of the human psyche.
Reminiscent of the London School's approach to the human form (Francis Bacon), this oval-shaped portrait is a powerful conversation piece, perfect for a collection focused on contemporary figurative art and emotional depth.

About artist:
Hazu Ionut is a self-taught painter born in Bacau, Romania. From a young age he was attracted to visual arts, but without a mentor to guide him, he took the brush and started painting. He still doesn't have a particular style, that's why in his portfolio we find works of art from portraits to figurative art and static nature. Many of his artworks have appeared in various catalogs dedicated to art lovers.
Appears in publications with interviews such as Mutual art, Pice Gallery, Artit.
