Description from the seller
Os Gemeos
No somos penta!
Digital print on canvas
Signed, titled numbered and thumb printed (label affixed to the reverse)
Edition /1001
21 x 29.7 cm
The title refers to Brazilian pride in their national football team's five World Cup championships (the "Penta"), a theme the artists have explored in other projects, such as decorating the official Brazilian team plane for the 2014 World Cup.
OS GEMEOS the twin duo Otávio and Gustavo Pandolfo—have redefined global street art with their surreal, yellow-skinned characters and intricate dreamscapes. As pioneers of the Brazilian graffiti scene, they stand as titans of urban contemporary art alongside legendary figures like Banksy, whose political stencils transformed the medium, and Shepard Fairey (OBEY), who bridged the gap between propaganda and pop culture. Their work shares the same cultural weight as the late Keith Haring, whose rhythmic lines paved the way for street art in galleries, and JR, who uses large-scale photography to turn urban spaces into social statements. Together, these artists have elevated graffiti from a marginalized subculture to a prestigious movement within the international fine art world
