Description from the seller
UV checked! Very good condition!
Covered teapot in glazed porcelain with the decoration of the "Hundred Children".
China, Qing Dynasty, Tongzhi Mark and Period (1862–1874)
Height: 9 cm
Width: 9 cm and 13 cm
Porcelain with enamel decoration over glaze, known as famille rose (fencai).
Cylindrical body resting on a slight circular foot, with a short pouring spout and a rectangular handle. The domed lid is pierced with a vent, crowned by a knop modeled in the shape of a stylized peach.
The teapot bears the classic and very popular theme of the "Hundred Children" (Baizi Tu).
The decoration, rendered in a soft palette of celadon greens, pinks, mauves and oranges, depicts a continuous frieze of children (play scenes and processions) in a stylized landscape with vegetation, banners and ritual accessories. The treatment is light and narrative, with fine brown-black outlines.
The base bears a four-character red iron seal mark: Tongzhi Nian Zhi (Made during the Tongzhi reign).
Condition:
Very good overall condition.
No chips and no restorations! Observed under UV.
The small hole visible on the lid is a deliberate steam vent and not a firing defect.
Provenance: Portuguese Collection – Kanaka The Collection
Shipping: Shipped with UPS with insurance and tracking.
