David Law Artist Photographer – Creator of contemporary images Multidisciplinary photographer and author, and musician, David Law develops a body of work centered on the gaze, presence, and perception of the image in urban space. He first made a name for himself with a series devoted to window mannequins, integrated into the city through a subtle play of reflections and superpositions. This exploration of gaze and presence gave birth to an art book published in 2021. Later, he was struck by the singular aesthetic of collectible dolls and Japanese figurines, and he extends this reflection by staging them in the streets of Paris and other European capitals. Through framing, light, and composition, these inanimate models acquire a troubling, almost living presence, questioning our relationship to illusion and projection. New Series – Contemporary Photomosaics Since 2022, David Law has been developing a new corpus of works based on artistic photomosaic and contemporary digital composition. Each creation is built from a multitude of microvisual fragments generated using current graphic tools, then selected, structured, and meticulously recomposed by the artist. From a distance, the image appears immediately legible, strong, and assertive. Up close, it reveals a dense architecture made up of thousands of elements subtly interwoven. This work relies on precise artistic direction, a methodical and rigorous construction, a balance sought between fragmentation and unity, and a constant demand for visual quality and decorative impact. Through this series, David Law questions the fabrication of contemporary imagery and how a multitude of fragments can give rise to a coherent and singular work. Edition & Production Each work is offered in a limited edition of 8 numbered copies + 4 artist proofs (A.P.), signed by the artist and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. The prints are made on aluminum with a built-in rear hanger. Printing on bright white vinyl, mounted between two aluminum plates, with flexible anti-UV and anti-humidity lamination, guaranteeing excellent durability, long-term stability of colors, and a modern and contemporary appearance. Artist Background Since 2014, David Law participates in about twenty Contemporary Art fairs per year in France and Europe. He is also the official photographer and videographer for several organizers of contemporary art fairs. Alongside his visual work, he develops an authorial and musical career, including 3 novels, a collection of short stories, a graphic novel, a photo book, and 5 self-produced CDs. A singer-guitarist, he currently performs with the group FRENZY.
