Susan Luppino was born in New York in 1945, and continued her art education in Lima, Peru.
In 1964/65, she moved to Florence for her Junior Year Abroad and took courses at the Academy of Fine Arts, including sculpture. In 1966, she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in sculpture from the American University in Washington, D.C., and was appointed to teach at a high school in the same city.
