Description from the seller
A rare and early Baccarat crystal decanter dating to around 1830, corresponding to the models described in the 1834–1835 tariffs as taillées à côtes torses en double S. While similar pieces were produced in moulded glass during the period, this example is finely cut crystal of superior execution, characteristic of Baccarat production.
The neck is adorned with beautifully faceted diamond cut rings, sharply defined and perfectly proportioned. The body features elegant flat sides enhanced by precise cutting, creating exceptional brilliance and depth of light.
The quality of the crystal, the finesse of the cutting and the balance of the proportions strongly support the attribution to Baccarat’s early 19th century manufacture.
Condition: very good antique condition with light traces of time entirely consistent with its nearly 200 year age. An exceptional state of preservation for such an early piece.
A refined and highly collectible example of early Baccarat craftsmanship.
Height — 29.5 cm
Top diameter — 6 cm
Base diameter — 9.5 cm
Circumference — 38.5 cm
