Description from the seller
STRONGMAN
The notion of strength shifts from the physical to the mental and symbolic realm. The figure sustains a firm and contained presence, where the true burden is not visible but interior: convictions, responsibilities, and the silent pressure of deciding. The body appears as a support for an energy that does not need to be displayed, building an archetypal portrait of contemporary fortitude, one measured by clarity, influence, and the ability to sustain processes.
The work unfolds from the tension between control and emotional weight. The posture and attitude of the subject suggest stability, but also a constant awareness of the balance required to lead, endure, and move forward. As in modern life, strength here is not a demonstration but a daily practice: the determination to stay firm even when what is held is intangible.
The pictorial treatment reinforces this reading. The solid presence of the figure dialogues with the surrounding atmosphere, creating a space where certainty and vulnerability, action and reflection coexist. The painting thus becomes a metaphor of contemporary leadership: less epic, more mindful; less physical, more strategic.
A piece of great psychological power and visual presence, ideal for a professional office, a creative studio, or any space where decisions are made and ideas are built. Its scale amplifies the sense of stability and makes the work a focal point with character.
The painted stretcher allows it to be hung directly without a frame, maintaining the painting’s material continuity and reinforcing its direct presence in the space.
About the artist
Tom Roy (Toni Ramírez) is an artist born in Vilanova i la Geltrú (Barcelona) in 1976. After a career in the business sector, a decisive life experience led him to dedicate himself fully to artistic creation, understood as a space of resistance, memory, and personal reconstruction.
His work is defined by a contemporary figurative language: figures with strong physical presence, intense gestures, and a brushstroke executed with energy. Through color, texture, and the force of gesture, he explores the tension between human fragility and the capacity to persist. His practice engages in dialogue with references such as Juan de la Rica, Julio Vaquero, or Miquel Barceló.
His work has been positively valued by international sector experts. Elisa Pritzker, Owner and Director of Pritzker Studio & Gallery, and Flavio Scaloni, Gallery Manager of Galerie Lo Scalo, have highlighted the solidity and uniqueness of his pictorial proposal.
He has exhibited in spaces such as Sala del Cambrer, Centre d’art Cal Masó, and Gran Palas Experience La Pineda, and has participated in international fairs such as World Art Dubai (2025), ART3F Paris (2024), and FIABCN Barcelona (2023). In 2025 he was an artist-in-residence at the Radisson Red Silicon Oasis in Dubai. His work is part of private and institutional collections, including the Port of Tarragona and the Meliá hotels.
