NWA 7397 is a Martian Shergottite meteorite from TanTan, Morocco, an achondrite poikilitic fragment weighing 0.41 g and measuring about 10 × 7 × 6 mm, supplied with a certificate of authenticity.

Northwest Africa 7397 (NWA 7397) is a Martian meteorite of the shergottite type, discovered in 2012 in Morocco. Classified as a poikilitic achondrite, it originates from Mars' crust and was ejected to Earth following an impact by an asteroid or comet on the Red Planet.
NWA 7397 was found south of the Moroccan town of Tan Tan, in the Chwihiya region, and purchased by two meteorite traders from a local dealer in Zagora in June 2012. Many fragments have since been collected within the fall ellipse. The total weight of the extraterrestrial material recovered would, however, be only about 3 kg.
From a petrographic standpoint, this meteorite has been classified among Martian shergottites.
It has a poikilitic texture, with relatively large pyroxene crystals (up to 1.5 centimeters) called oikocrysts and containing smaller crystals, called chadacrysts, of olivine and chromite. The spaces between the oikocrysts are filled by pyroxenes, olivine, and plagioclases transformed into maskelynite. Among the accessory minerals, there are oxides (chromite, ilmenite associated with baddeleyite), sulfides (pyrrhotite) and phosphates (merrillite).
The meteorite has been exposed to a significant level of stress, as evidenced by the presence of maskelynite, as well as the existence, within olivine crystals, of vitreous inclusions ringed by a network of radial micro-fractures.
Rare earth element analysis indicates that the meteorite crystallized from an enriched magmatic source.
Like all shergottites, NWA 7397 should be relatively young (a few hundred million years at most).
