Jone Hopper - Femme à table

Born in 1977, Jone Hopper is a French artist. In the late 1980s, he makes his 'strides' on the street through an emerging movement of that time: graffiti. He tags his name on the street, on walls and on trains. Recognized for his characters and aerosol signatures, he creates the collective TBS (The Brutal Style) with Skepa and a few other committed graffiti writers. We know little about him, as the artist stays faithful to the spirit of graffiti and wishes to remain anonymous, believing that it is the artwork that should be showcased and not the individual. Absent from social media, missing from openings, a faceless artist, he remains a true mystery except to a few gallery owners in confidence. He compares his painting to a hip-hop track, drawing from Basquiat, Keith Haring, Picasso, Matisse, Andy Warhol or even Bacon; he borrows from all art movements, from Modern to Contemporary, passing through Classical, acting like a sampler... samples, cuts, assembles, and thus creates new images.
