Eduardo Laborde, Marilyn brilla con luz propia, oil on canvas, 104.5 x 84.5 cm, Spain, original, signed by hand, framed, 2003, period 2000-2010.
Description from the seller
Original work by contemporary artist Eduardo Laborde, titled Marilyn shines with its own light, acquired at the renowned Ángeles Penche Gallery (Madrid).
The painting presents an interior museum-like scene in which iconic references from art history coexist—ranging from Surrealism to Pop Art—articulated in a carefully constructed perspective space. In the center of the composition, a Brillo Box bursts onto the scene as a direct nod to Warhol’s universe, while the portrait of Marilyn asserts itself with luminous presence against the green background of the room.
The work functions as a visual reflection on contemporary culture, the art market, and 20th‑century iconography. The combination of academic technique in spatial construction with pop elements generates an intelligent dialogue between tradition and modernity.
