Description from the seller
In "Caracol", the composition is organized as a synthetic architecture where geometry replaces the direct representation of nature. Far from describing the mollusk literally, the work translates its spiral logic and its idea of shelter into a system of curved and orthogonal volumes that articulate with almost construction-like precision. A large red stroke in the shape of an “L” functions as a base and a path, while an orange arc and a dark circle suggest core, weight, and rotation. The figure seems to fold over itself, as if the space were in the process of winding up.
From a historical perspective, the piece dialogues with the minimalist tradition and geometric abstraction, evoking the structural clarity of Donald Judd and the use of color as an active field in Ellsworth Kelly. Here color is not decorative: it delineates planes, generates depth, and establishes spatial tensions. The contrast between the blue background and the intense reds and oranges activates an optical vibration that gives the composition dynamism, while hard shadows hint at volume and physical anchoring, bringing the image closer to the language of sculpture or model-making.
As in much contemporary abstraction, "Caracol" proposes a perceptual experience before narrative. The spectator mentally reconstructs the relationships between the elements, following curved trajectories and displacements that refer to organic growth. The work presents itself as a metaphor for inhabiting: a body that folds back, a space that is built from inside to out. More than representing a snail, the painting embodies its structural principle—the spiral, the shelter, the slow movement—and turns it into a plastic problem of balance, rhythm, and permanence.
About MUMA:
MUMA is an artistic duo formed by a 3D Generalist and a Designer and an Art Historian, all trained at Universidad CEU San Pablo in Madrid. Their artistic practice centers on the visual arts, with special interest in color, movement, and the dynamism of forms, as well as in variations of the environment. Their work is conceived to integrate into space and establish direct dialogue with routine and human experience, exploring a vital vision linked to the ideals of impressionism, such as the relationship with nature, color, and changing environments. MUMA is connected to the professional world of digital and plastic arts in Madrid, with participation in competitions.
About preparation, packaging, and shipping of the work:
The work is hand-signed by the artistic duo and also comes with an authenticity certificate signed by them.
