Stefano Nurra, Avalanche (MiCo26), a 1/1 edition in black and white acrylic on gesso, 30 × 24 cm, 2 kg, dated 2025, hand-signed, from Italy, in a modern pop culture themed composition.
Description from the seller
The work presents itself as a powerful minimalist composition dominated by a sharp chromatic and structural contrast. The background, a deep, opaque black with a regular texture, is diagonally carved by a white relief field, laid on with a decisive spatula stroke that simulates the texture of snow and the ski slope.
The generous use of emptiness and the disproportion between the athlete and the slope emphasize the isolation of the individual facing the challenge. The "slope" is not just a physical space, but becomes a tactile sculpture on the canvas, where the white color ridges guide the eye toward the lower right corner, suggesting speed and direction.
The work is completed by a red wax seal in the lower right corner, a detail that confers a tone of officialdom and preciousness, almost as if it were an archival document or a historic relic.
