Description from the seller
Optical Fold, 2026.
An extraordinary wall piece that explores the concept of trompe-l’œil (trompe-l'œil) contemporary. Through a masterful use of perspective and a gradient blue palette, the work creates an illusion of three-dimensional volume and folding on a flat surface.
Created by the Spanish sculptor Pedro Rey (1977), his artistic career began self-taught in 1998, after attending various learning workshops such as painting, photography and sculpture; he decided to focus his work on the latter, acquiring in recent years sculpture as the main protagonism within his work.
Competitions where he has been selected:
-2020. Selected for the International Contest Askatasunarte,
-2021. Selected for the XXV Pere Jou Sculpture Contest.
-2023. Selected for the 17th City of Badajoz Sculpture Award.
-2024. Shortlisted for the 61 Reina Sofía Award.
