Description from the seller
Marine painting "Reflets au port" - 2026
This work by Yves Decaudan, entitled Reflets au port, is a seascape that oscillates between figuration and modern abstraction
Three boats — one orange on the left, one red and yellow in the center, and one blue on the right — float on calm water.
In the background, a jetty or port buildings are discerned, treated in a highly simplified manner.
It is marked by a strong verticality.
The masts of the boats rise upward while their reflections stretch exaggeratedly downward, creating a striking mirror-like effect.
Blue dominates nearly the entire space, serving as a unifying link between the sky and the sea.
The primary and secondary colors of the hulls — orange, red, and yellow — act as bright focal points that break the monotony of the blue.
The work exudes a great serenity.
The absence of waves and the static aspect of the boats evoke a moment of suspension, a peaceful late afternoon at the port.
However, the saturated colors give this otherwise silent scene a vital energy.
Original painting by the artist Yves Decaudan - 1954
Acrylic on cotton canvas, wooden stretcher, unframed, dimensions 80 x 80 cm
Shipped in a special art carton.
