Rare Taishō-period ceramic plate from Japan, Ø31 cm × H6 cm, decorated with polychrome enamel on a yellow ground with blue tendrils and multicolour chrysanthemums, back glazed in white with a stylised phoenix and the Fuku mark, in very good condition with minor wear.

Large ceramic plate finely decorated with rich polychrome enamel on a yellow background adorned with blue arabesques and multicolored chrysanthemums. These flowers, imperial symbols of Japan, symbolize longevity and perfection. The composition, with a decorative balance typical of the Taishō period, testifies to the continuity of Meiji-era ceramic traditions, while incorporating a modern taste for vivid color contrasts and textured backgrounds.
The back, white-glazed, features a stylized flying phoenix, symbol of renewal and virtue, and bears the Fuku (福) mark meaning happiness, prosperity. The signature is inscribed in a yellow underglaze cartouche.
Condition: very good, slight enamel wear and glaze cracks.
