Description from the seller

Eugène Ferdinand Parisy (Acy-en-Multien 1849 - Paris 1916)

River landscape with bridge

Oil on wood

signed lower right

approximately 27.0 x 39.0 cm

Condition: very good

Original grand frame (stucco on wood) from the 19th century
(partially damaged, with repair spots/retouchings)

Dimensions including frame: approximately 57.0 x 68.0 cm

According to the backside note, Parisy was a pupil of Victor Leclaire (1830 Paris 1885) from 1876-1882
Also in other sources Parisy is listed as a pupil of Victor Leclaire (1830–1885), a well-known French painter of flowers and still lifes. When comparing the works of the two artists, this seems very plausible.

The treatment of light and transparency makes the painting a very beautiful early example of impressionist painting. With the original frame, the picture is extremely decorative.

The painting was sold in 2011 at the auction house Dobiaschofsky, Bern/Switzerland for 1500 CHF. (See backside sticker).
