Description from the seller
Bronze and steel sculpture by the Spanish sculptor Pancho Porto, edition of 25 numbered and signed copies.
Pancho Porto (Santiago de Compostela, 1988) began his training in artistic cabinetmaking at the Antonio Failde Center in Ourense. In this school he first encountered disciplines such as carving, drawing, and modeling, and most importantly, workshop work.
Later he enrolls at the Mestre Mateo School of Arts and Crafts in Santiago de Compostela, where he studies what will later become his main discipline: sculpture. It is at this school that he begins working with materials that will be fundamental in his work, such as steel or clay. At the same time, Porto continues his self-directed study and investigates other materials such as bronze or resins and their multiple uses and finishes.
After this first training phase, he decides to set up his studio on the banks of the Sarela river, very close to the place where he was born. It is here where he begins his particular theoretical and practical investigation into the relationship between the materials used in each work and the message they convey. This leads him to seek new approaches to communicating and narrating his story. Since then, this has been the usual mode of his works, imbuing the entire body of his work with complexity and background, with themes that touch both on the social sphere and his personal experiences.
