Rolex Milgauss 116400GV, 40 mm automatic stainless steel watch with blue dial and sapphire crystal, Oyster steel bracelet; full set with original box, papers and warranty, in very good condition with minor signs of wear.
Description from the seller
Rolex Milgauss 116400GV, full set: the Milgauss is constructed like any Rolex watches – robust yet handsome.
The 40mm timepiece is suitable for both casual and more formal occasion.
The dial is paired with a green-tinted sapphire crystal, dubbed the “Glace Verde”.
It was said that the green sapphire crystal was so difficult to manufacture that Rolex did not even apply for this particular invention.
This sapphire crystal is both scratch and fade proof, and it is only exclusive to the Milgauss collection.
A bit of its story: first released as the Reference 6543 in 1954: although not the first antimagnetic wristwatch, the Milgauss significantly increased a movement’s capacity to withstand magnetism.
The exact history is convoluted, but a certain level of collaboration between Rolex and CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research, led to a watch that could withstand 1,000, or mil, gauss.
