Max Agostini occupies a singular place in 20th-century French painting. Born in 1914, he developed early a keen gaze on light and atmospheres, which would become the signature of his entire œuvre. A passionate self-taught artist, he gradually established himself as a master of the landscape, capable of capturing with rare sensibility the vibrations of a sky, the softness of a coast, or the poetry of a Provençal village.
His style, immediately recognizable, blends a lively and generous brushstroke with a luminous palette, often dominated by deep blues and warm ochers. Agostini paints on-site, as close to nature as possible, which lends his canvases spontaneity and sincerity highly appreciated by collectors. His works have been exhibited in numerous French and international galleries, and today figure in several private collections.
