Description from the seller

This photograph was taken with a digital camera and printed on fine art museum-grade paper. The images in the Atemporal series evoke a world where everything existed only as matter at rest. The stones, in their silent monumental presence, are portrayed as presences. The choice of black and white reinforces this sense of being out of time, as if we were looking at the record of an archetypal memory of the world. The formal simplicity and the rawness of the compositions reveal an aesthetic of completeness: there is no excess, only the essential: mass, form, light, and shadow.

Edition of 15 + 1 Artist Proof

* Signed artwork with Certificate of Authenticity and Edition Number.
* The printed mark measures 15cm x 15cm: the total paper size is 20cm x 20cm.
* Printed on Canson Rag Photographique 310gsm paper. This luxurious gallery-standard paper is completely matte and displays striking contrasts with painterly depth.
* Rich tones with archival quality
* Packed in acid-free paper and rigid foam

Humberto Lemos was born in Brazil, 1959. He has been a photographer for 40 years, with his current production essentially focused on authorial photographs.

His works invite us to contemplate landscapes that seem to be from other worlds. Images that remind us of how small we are, where emptiness and silence are exalted as protagonists in the absence of human elements.

Based in Portugal, Humberto travels in search of photographs without addresses—he created the concept of Imaginary Landscapes, deconstructing places and their referents, producing images that come out of the obvious geographic expectations. He works with minimalism influenced by Oriental influences.
