AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Still Water is an evocative, highly textured original abstract landscape that captures the mist-laden atmosphere of an early morning. The composition draws the eye across a tranquil body of water, with heavy, tactile forms suggesting a distant shoreline shrouded in mist.

This piece relies on a serene, cooling palette of icy blues and deep, grounding navy. A distinct feature of this painting is the heavy impasto texture used to build the dark landscape elements. This sculptural approach to the acrylic paint contrasts beautifully with the smooth, ethereal blending of the sky and the water's reflection, giving the piece a striking three-dimensional quality when the light hits it.

***

Please note - painting is sold unframed. Taken off the stretcher bars, canvas rolled and shipped safely in a tube. Don't hesitate to reach out if you'd be interested in having it shipped stretched, I'm happy to provide a quote.

Painting is hand signed at the back, additionally the Certificate of Authenticity is provided.

Kinga Makowka is a Polish-born artist based in Yorkshire, whose work explores the emotional terrain between memory and presence, stillness and sensation.

Working primarily on raw linen and cotton canvas, she builds her paintings in delicate layers; soft pigments, textures, and metallic details that seem to catch not just light, but time itself. Her pieces do not aim to capture a specific place, but rather a moment… a feeling.

Much of her work is rooted in personal reflection a search for meaning for pause. Kinga invites the viewer into a deeply human space: one of emotion, nostalgia, and connection.

Her practice often draws from her own life - family rituals, nature walks, the chaos of ADHD, and the peace she seeks through it all. It is a cartography of the internal world, mapping feeling through form.
