VANTA – Vault, oil on canvas (180 × 130 cm), original edition, hand signed, contemporary blue portrait from Austria, period 2020+ and sold direct from the artist.
Description from the seller
“Vault” (2026)
Oil on canvas
180 x 130 cm
A male figure rises from deep blue, head tilted upward, curling hair catching the light that removal has carved from the dark foundation. Half-draped in cloth that falls and stretches across the composition, one arm extends outward - a gesture that reads simultaneously as reach and command. VANTA has worked the single blue foundation to uncover the figure’s upward gaze, the removal technique tracing the folds of fabric with the same attention given to the face and bare skin beneath.
The pose carries the authority of classical sculpture - that particular combination of stillness and implied motion that ancient stone perfected. Represented by S-Gallery and available on Catawiki. The draped cloth becomes as much a subject as the figure itself, the removal work following its movement across the canvas in sweeping strokes that contrast with the tighter, more deliberate work around the face and neck.
The figure looks upward and beyond the frame, the extended arm cutting diagonally through the blue darkness. Whatever it reaches toward remains outside the painting entirely - the gesture complete in itself, suspended in blue.
Shipping:
The work is delivered without a frame (professional packaging, rolled in a tube). it can easily be restretched by a professional or on your own, this is also cheaper then the otherwise increased cost of shipping when sending paintings of this size stretched
The measurements indicated are those of the painting stretched and mounted on a frame (The actual
measurements of the canvas are larger to allow it to be mounted on a frame 2-4cm thick.
