Elisa Brindani - Geisha con tulipani

This painting depicts a geisha adorned with large tulips. The expression on the face is very intense and seems to scrutinize the observer, with attention and respect, typical of Eastern culture. The typical hair-decorations are interpreted, much more important than reality, almost trying to steal the scene from the geisha, but the true protagonist of the painting is she; in fact the facial details are well defined to make it almost a photographic portrait, while the other elements (flowers, kimono, pendants) are much more informal. The background is neutral, in shades of gray, only at the extremities does it transform into black to create an optical effect similar to a frame. The black continues also along the sides of the canvas which measures 60x80 cm and is ready to be hung. A painting of great intensity, it comes with authentication.
