Description from the seller
Large Silver-Plated Serving Tray with Rococo Handles – Europe – mid-20th century
An impressive and large rectangular silver-plated serving tray with two ornate handles, executed in an elegant Rococo / Louis XV revival style. The tray features beautifully cast handles decorated with acanthus leaves, floral motifs and scrollwork, combined with a classic twisted rope border around the rim.
The generous proportions and solid weight make this tray ideal for serving tea, coffee sets, cocktails or hors d'oeuvres. It would originally have been used together with a large tea or coffee service, but also functions perfectly today as a decorative center piece or serving tray.
The underside bears a hand-engraved dedication dated 28-11-1945, indicating that the tray was presented as a gift.
The tray displays a refined surface with a wide serving area and richly decorated handles, typical for high-quality European silver-plated tableware of the mid-20th century.
Large trays of this size were often used in hotels, restaurants or for formal table service and remain highly decorative pieces for both practical use and interior decoration.
Very good vintage condition with normal light signs of use and polishing marks consistent with age. Please see the photos as they form part of the description. The silver plating is in very good condition. There are virtually no scratches visible.
