Carola Castro’s La lectora is an original 2025 acrylic painting on paper in a cubist style, a framed nude in greys and pinks, 56 by 46 cm with frame and glass, signed by hand, in excellent condition, from Spain, sold directly by the artist, weighing 3 kg, brown-toned and created after 2020.
Description from the seller
Work executed in mixed media on paper.
It is an elegant female nude, in grays and pinks, framed with a matting with a border of another and glass.
I have learned from Cubism that the concern was to reach the essential truth of the object they wanted to represent. The object possessed an absolute form, an essential form and to discover it they suppressed chiaroscuro and traditional perspective.

I try to move within the action of continuing to reinvent cubism, giving it a contemporary air.
I regularly access parameters I consider recurrent, such as the constant assimilation of images from the past, the play with others’ language, focusing on ancient and modern painters.
I feel a constant sense of diving into the interior of history.
My study and research of the Cubist movement, especially the long and extensive trajectory of Picasso, leads me into unknown territories.
In each painting I try to review the problems and solutions that Picasso posed with Cubism.
Cubism, for me, is a very important pictorial movement within the history of art.
