Description from the seller

"Scarlet" is a part of the "Jelly" series. It is a print on Hahnemuhle Baryta, treated with Renaissance wax and mounted on aluminium. The format is 25x25 and it is the second edition of 25 copies.

The story of the Jellys – Images full of gentleness, vulnerability and femininity. These handmade creations consist of 90% water, just like us. In these translucent forms the photographer integrates elements from nature. Ursula’s Jellys stand for that delicate vulnerability, but also for the softness and strength of the woman. The organic shapes of the ‘appealing desserts’ reflect the natural beauty and cuddliness of the female body. Transparent and pure, but also unfathomable because you don’t know what is happening inside. Ursula lives and works in a monumental building in the Hanseatic city of Kampen.

Seller's Story

Passionate, sensitive and with an eye for detail, light and color, would be a nice description of Ursula's approach. She is perfectionistic, enthusiastic and diligent; she will only be satisfied when the well-known WOW factor has been achieved. With her artworks she aims to bring her subjects forward in the purest possible way. Ursula transforms objects into powerful still lifes and the portraits are a reflection of a bygone era, where from time to time a splash of modern life is incorporated. Her work is unconventional and the use of light leans toward her sources of inspiration: the paintings of Jacques-Louis David, Rembrandt and Caravaggio. As a photographer Ursula also seeks to distinguish herself through diversity in her work, and beside individual creations she makes series, where multiple images tell one story. She is notably discovered with her intriguing, still lifes: the series Plastic Vegetables and the series House-4-Sale. These works have been awarded with various prizes, among them for the series “de 100 van Rooyackers.” Exhibitions: 2025 Academiehuis Zwolle 2024 Stedelijk museum Kampen 2023 ANNO museum Zwolle 2019 Fundatie Zwolle 2019 WG Kunst Amsterdam 2017 Loods 6 Amsterdam 2016 van Abbemuseum Publications: Stentor-Haarlems Dagblad, HP de Tijd, GUP New Dutch Photography Awards incl., 2017 Public Prize Photographic Design 2015 PIA d’or Award second prize Portrait 2021 Fine Art Photography Awards Portrait
