Description from the seller
Photos are part of the description.
Note! Due to the dimensions it is shipped outside the Netherlands without a frame.
Lambertus de Jong.
Born in Amsterdam in 1919. Died in 2005
Education: Self-taught
In 1940 he fled – in the middle of the bombing of Rotterdam – to Amsterdam; the opportunities to sell his work are better there. Although he is in danger because he is Jewish, he does not go into hiding and continues painting under his pseudonym. The sale of his work abroad also goes on as usual.
As a painter, he gains increasing recognition for his forest and heath landscapes, after which he specializes in seascapes. Especially that category, which this work also falls into, is sold to an international clientele.
In the last years of his life, Lambertus painted only in abstraction; up to a very old age.
