Vhils (1987) - Layers

This work takes up Vhils' traditional process of "scratching the surface", which consists of removing the thickness formed by a pile of posters laminated in the street to reveal each layer of which it is composed. In so doing, he brings to light the different layers of history piled up beneath the posters, like an archaeologist of the contemporary. A portrait also stands out against this poster background. By inscribing portraits, Vhils aims to bring man back to the heart of the city, to give him back a place he seems to have lost in the face of unbridled urbanization.

LAYERS is NFT's first scalable project in which collectors can co-create works of art on the Ethereum blockchain. The artworks will change over time according to individual wishes, with each collector free to "tear" each "layer" as he or she sees fit, although there is a threshold that must not be crossed - three attempts. Some of the best pieces were transformed to screenprints, as this one, but it is no longer possible to create more.
This particular piece evokes his experimentations with billboards and light creating a beautiful and unique piece.
