Fiori, an oil painting from 1900–1910 by Giuseppe Caracciolo, Italy, sold with frame.
Description from the seller
Artwork by Giuseppe Caracciolo (1894-1971), an Italian artist renowned for his still lifes and, in particular, for his floral compositions. It is a rich bouquet of roses and field flowers, rendered with a delicacy almost ethereal. Caracciolo favored pastel tones — ivory whites, pale pinks and soft yellows — which give the painting a soft and romantic light.
Stile e Tecnica: Style and Technique: The brushstroke is fluid and vibrant. Photorealistic realism is not sought; rather, the capture and impression of the flower, its freshness and its fragility. The outlines are not sharp, but seem almost to merge with the gray-blue background, a characteristic typical of his Italian-inspired, “impressionist” touch.
Composizione: The arrangement of the flowers is pyramidal and dynamic, with buds reaching upward, giving air to the scene. Caracciolo was a painter active mainly in Naples in the mid-20th century. Although he also painted landscapes (often Neapolitan or coastal views), he became famous for his flowers.
His works were much loved by the bourgeoisie of the time because they could decorate with elegance, bringing a sense of serenity and nature into domestic interiors.
