Vase - Clay - Glazed ceramic vase

Glazed ceramic decorative vase with relief decorations in the Neobaroque or Eclectic style. The relief friezes depict flying putti or cherubs (a classic Greco-Roman mythological theme). The vase's structure, with gadrooning on the shoulder and base, is typical of the academic taste of the second half of the nineteenth century. The decorations are relief, hand-finished before firing and glazing. The estimated period is the late 19th century to the early 20th century (1880-1920), a time when many European manufactories, especially in Italy, produced style objects that represented the splendor of previous centuries to furnish the homes of the rising bourgeoisie.
