Description from the seller
beautiful work by Edgar Bytebier
Edgard Bytebier was a Belgian artist born in 1875 in Ghent and who died in 1940 in Dilbeek. He was a painter, draftsman and lithographer. Education at the Academy in Ghent under J. Delvin, then at the Academy in Brussels. Created landscapes, picturesque corners from the surroundings of Dilbeek and Brussels, more rarely also figures. He captured the misty atmosphere at dusk in the Brabant region in his works. His works breathe rural tranquility, poetry, a certain melancholy. From the press: ‘He is more poet than painter. He is a lover of softly sorrowful evenings, a contemplator of unreal dreamlike visions.’ Also designed posters. Created large panels for the Floraliënpaleis at the World’s Fair in Ghent in 1913. Mentioned in BAS I and Two Centuries of Signatures of Belgian Artists. (Piron)
