Description from the seller
Pair of blue glass curtain finials with brass mounting
Description
Elegant pair of curtain finials made of blown glass, distinguished by an intense cobalt blue tone enriched with white and transparent decorations fused into the glass mass.
The oval, slightly elongated shape recalls decorative models with a classic and decorative taste, ideal for completing luxurious curtains, antique rods, or refined settings.
The base is turned brass, with a natural patina consistent with the era and use.
Decorative objects with strong visual impact, typical of the production from the second half of the twentieth century, appreciated both as functional accessories and as ornamental elements.
Technical characteristics
Typology: Curtain finials/ends
Material: Hand-blown Murano glass, worked by hand
Mounting: Brass
Color: Cobalt blue with white murrine
Era: Second half of the 20th century
Quantity: Pair
Measurements: 22.4 cm in length and 8 cm in diameter; Total weight: 1.324 kg
Conditions
Good overall condition.
There are light superficial scratches and small glass firing defects, particularly visible on one of the finials (as in the photographs), consistent with artisanal production and the objects’ age.
The brass mounting shows normal patina.
Curiosity
Murrine decorations are one of the most recognizable techniques of the Murano tradition: small sections of colored glass canes that, once fused into the hot glass, create regular and deep motifs, making each piece unique.
Shipping
Careful and professional packing, with anti-shock protection appropriate to the fragility of the glass.
Tracked shipping.
