Description from the seller

Volkswagen Combi T1 – 1966 – 9-seater version – Matching Numbers – Very beautiful condition

---

BODYWORK / PAINT

The 1966 Combi T1 body is presented in very good overall condition. A complete exterior repaint was carried out in 2023, providing a uniform hue and regular gloss. The reinforcements and underbodies were refurbished in 2020, with the replacement of the four triangular reinforcements and the central beam, ensuring a healthy and durable structure. A small scratch is present on the front left door, as well as a light defect on the rear bumper; these marks are purely cosmetic and do not affect driving. The window seals show signs of aging: I recommend replacing several of them to optimise sealing. The door bumpers would also benefit from renewal to improve closing. The chrome, especially those of the safari kit, are clean and free of corrosion. No permeant rust spots to report, and the welding work done in the past is neat and stable.

---

TECHNICAL

The Combi is equipped with its original 1500 engine, fully rebuilt in 2025. The overhaul included: new ignition, new crankshaft, new connecting rods, new bearings, new piston/cylinder kit, replaced filter + oil, as well as a complete cleaning and sandblasting of the engine block. The engine starts perfectly when cold and warm.
Transmission has undergone extensive work: new clutch kit, gearbox + reducers seals kit replaced, oil changes performed, rear drive shaft boots (x2) new, rear SPI seals (x2) SABO, and replacement of the gearbox cover to integrate the reverse light.
The steering rods (sway bars) were replaced, improving steering precision.
Braking system completely rebuilt in 2026: hydraulic hoses (x4), cylinders (x6), brake shoes (x4).
The Cofap shocks in the rear and front are new.

---

INTERIOR

The interior, configured for 9 seats, was completely redone in 2022. The seats are in excellent condition, with no tears or sagging, and present a clean and uniform finish. The headliner is clean, well taut, and securely fixed, with no moisture trace or sagging. The dashboard is complete, gauges function, and controls are operational. The carpets and mats are clean.

---

DOCUMENTS

The vehicle is registered as a collection license plate in my name. It is accompanied by its FFVE certificate, a valid technical inspection, and invoices for recent work (engine, braking, painting, wiring loom, shock absorbers, clutch, steering bars…).

---

Catawiki always aims to offer you the best possible buying experience. Our experts virtually review and select every vehicle in line with our submission guidelines and we require our sellers to provide the most accurate description of the vehicle. However, providing a fully detailed analysis of the vehicle is extremely difficult, and close to impossible. To guide you, we ask our sellers to provide information about the vehicle’s condition. Please consider that most vehicles for sale are classic vehicles and they often already have a whole life behind them, meaning that even a condition 1 or 2 vehicle might need maintenance to be ready for the road. It is advised to carefully read our submission guidelines that further describe details about the condition grades and types to manage your expectations. Cars are sold “as is”, meaning as described and in the condition they are in at the time of the sale and without any representation, warranty or assumption of liability of any kind as to the condition by Catawiki or by the seller. The condition of this item is the opinion of the seller and may differ from yours, your local garage, or the dealer’s opinion. This does not automatically mean the car does not conform to its description. Before bidding, please check your local legislation regarding vehicle registration. Neither the seller nor Catawiki is responsible for the registration of the vehicle in your country and will not accept a cancellation for your failure to register the vehicle. We also recommend that, if possible, you arrange a viewing with the seller before placing a bid.
