Description from the seller
This striking painting explores the boundary between voyeurism, power and introspection. A woman, with her back to us, in a light coat, faces a painting where four men in suits and hats appear, frozen in a silent gaze. The dramatic, almost theatrical lighting reinforces the psychological tension between the observer and the observed. The woman's gesture, ready to part her coat, suggests as much a disclosure as a provocation, blurring the borders between spectator and actor, looked at and looking. A work that questions our relationship to image, to desire and to control.
