Vacheron & Constantin Pocket Watch Movement (1893) – J.E. Caldwell Philadelphia – 18K Gold – Extract from Archives – Pristine Condition
Description:
Beautiful antique pocket watch featuring a Vacheron & Constantin movement produced in 1893, confirmed by an official Extract from the Vacheron & Constantin Archives (Geneva).
According to the archive extract, the movement (no. 296947) is a Vacheron & Constantin calibre RA 13''' XXXII and was originally sold as a movement only in 1893. It was later cased and retailed by the renowned American jeweller J.E. Caldwell & Co., Philadelphia, whose name appears on the enamel dial.
The watch is housed in a solid 18K gold case stamped “Warranted 18 Karat Gold”. The case is fitted with a glass exhibition back, allowing the Vacheron & Constantin movement to be admired.
The white enamel dial is in excellent condition and features classic Arabic numerals with blue five-minute markers and a subsidiary seconds dial at 6 o’clock. Elegant original hands complete the period aesthetic.
The movement is a Vacheron & Constantin manual-wind lever movement (RA 13''' calibre) dating to the late 19th century and representing fine Geneva watchmaking craftsmanship.
The watch is preserved in very good / pristine antique condition, with minimal signs of wear considering its age of over 130 years.
