Description from the seller
This is so bad
2019
From the series Rich, Poor and Beauty
80 × 80 cm
Mixed media on canvas
This 2019 work belongs to the Rich, Poor and Beauty series, a body of works that explores the tension between image, language, and social perception. The composition is built through raw monochrome gestures where sweeping black and grey marks create a dense, unstable portrait emerging from the surface.
Fragments of a face appear beneath the painterly layers, partially visible yet constantly disrupted by the movement of the brush. Across this turbulent image, a vivid fluorescent pink phrase cuts through the composition, functioning both as text and as a visual intervention. The writing interrupts the image, transforming the painting into a direct statement rather than a purely figurative portrait.
Within the Rich, Poor and Beauty series, the human face becomes a symbolic field where identity, status, and perception collide. The work moves between portrait and message, allowing paint, gesture, and language to coexist on the same psychological surface.
Shipping details:
Due to its dimensions (80 × 80 cm), the artwork will be delivered rolled in a protective cardboard tube to ensure safe international transport. Framing can be arranged locally according to the collector’s preference.
