Decorative soliflore vase dating to 1900–1910, with a gilded bronze mount sculpted as a naturalist lizard, a quadrangular base with cloisonné enamel plaque in blue, red, turquoise and white, and a molded crystal body, dimensions 18.5 cm high by 7.5 cm wide by 7.5 cm deep, in good condition with age-related gilding and patina wear.
Description from the seller
Decorative soliflore vase dating from the late 19th century, crafted in the taste of the Art Nouveau movement.
The mount in finely sculpted gilded bronze depicting a naturalist lizard seemingly climbing toward the vase.
The animal decor and the sinuous line are characteristic of the naturalist aesthetics highly appreciated at this period.
The base rests on an elegant quadrangular pedestal with four feet richly adorned with Rocaille motifs. The top of the pedestal is decorated with a cloisonné enamel plaque presenting a stylized floral motif in blue, red, turquoise and white tones, outlined by delicate gold fillets.
The vase is molded crystal, flared in shape with a festooned rim, bringing lightness and elegance to the whole.
The object forms a refined decorative piece typical of the small art objects produced in Europe at the end of the 19th century.
Decorative object of fine quality, combining bronze, cloisonné enamel and crystal, very representative of the decorative creations of the Art Nouveau period.
Elegant piece, ideal for a collector of antique objects, an Art Nouveau enthusiast, or for refined interior decoration.
Beautiful overall condition for an object over a century old, normal wear of the gilding and patina, the crystal shows a small discreet loss on one tooth of the edge as well as a slight chip, barely visible and not altering the general aesthetics of the piece, see photos; they are part of the description.
