Description from the seller
“Emerald Silence” is a contemporary abstract painting that explores stillness, depth, and the emotional power of color. The composition is dominated by layered emerald and turquoise tones, creating a vast atmospheric field that evokes the sensation of an open landscape or a distant sea.
A striking horizontal band in deep red interrupts the calm surface, introducing a subtle tension and acting as a symbolic horizon line. This contrast between tranquility and intensity creates a dynamic balance within the painting, inviting the viewer to pause and reflect.
Through its minimalist composition and textured acrylic layers, the work conveys a quiet yet powerful presence, transforming color and space into a meditative visual experience.
Artist Statement:
Carina P, 1981, Portugal
My work explores the emotional and atmospheric power of color, space, and gesture. Through abstract compositions, I seek to evoke landscapes that exist between memory and imagination—places where sky, water, and horizon dissolve into one another.
Working primarily with acrylic on canvas, I build layered surfaces that combine calm fields of color with expressive textures and subtle marks. Blue tones often dominate my paintings, reflecting a fascination with depth, distance, and the quiet mystery of open spaces. Rather than depicting specific places, my paintings suggest landscapes that the viewer can enter mentally and emotionally.
The horizon frequently appears in my work as a symbolic element. It represents transition, possibility, and the unknown—an invitation to look beyond what is visible. Through minimal structures and atmospheric color fields, I aim to create contemplative spaces where stillness and movement coexist.
Ultimately, my paintings are about perception and reflection. They encourage the viewer to pause, to explore the silence within color, and to imagine what lies beyond the horizon.
