Description from the seller
Lovely illustrated copy of a trip to Egypt by Lance Thackeray (1869 - 1916) who was an English illustrator, known especially for his comic sporting illustrations involving billiards and golf and for his many humorous postcards.
The book is beautifully and colourfully illustrated with 36 full colour plates. Each plate with facing page of text telling short funny story. The illustrations are mainly of the people of Egypt and their interactions, some quite humorous, with foreign tourists. A quite charming turn-of-century illustrated book.
Published by Adam and Charles Black, London, 1912. Publisher’s original sand cloth board with yellow lettering and the delightful graphic shows the back side of three camel-riding figures in foreground heading towards pyramids on the horizon against a blazing blue sky.
Book Dimensions: 30 x 23 cm and Number of Pages: 80
Condition
External covers are slightly marked, and with wear to corners and edges, and minor rubbings to spine ends. Internally the book is in good condition. No names or inscription. Some split to inner hinges at few place causing loose to some plates. The text and plates are clean and bright (Please see pictures).
