Description from the seller
Retro custom Larry Bird jersey including COA. Item includes stats from his career.
Bird was born in West Baden Springs, Indiana, to the marriage of Georgia and Joe Bird. He grew up in West Baden Springs and the nearby town of French Lick, which earned him the nickname The Hick from French Lick. He began his basketball career on the Springs Valley High School team, where he is still known as the most productive player ever to play for Springs Valley High.
Bird managed to win the NBA championship three times, among others with NBA legends Robert Parish and Kevin McHale. Together with Magic Johnson he helped lead the popularity of NBA basketball, which had been somewhat stagnant up to that point, to new heights. They did this primarily by reviving the long-standing rivalry between the Celtics of Bird and the Lakers of Magic.
During his NBA career Larry Bird achieved the very impressive averages of 24.3 points per game, 10.0 rebounds per game and 6.3 assists per game.
At the 1992 Games he won the gold medal with the first and most legendary Dream Team.
Bird is still regarded as one of the greatest players in NBA history and was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 1998. Bird was voted in 1996 as one of the 50 greatest NBA players of all time.
Earvin "Magic" Johnson Jr. (Lansing, Michigan), born August 14, 1959, is an American former basketball player. He played as a point guard for the Los Angeles Lakers in the NBA where he achieved his greatest successes. Together with Larry Bird (of the Boston Celtics) he was seen as one of the driving forces that made professional basketball interesting to the media again.
He began his career at Everett High School, where he quickly developed into one of the best players at that level. In the 1976-1977 season he was named among the McDonald's All-Americans. Although several universities had expressed interest, he, under great public attention, chose his own Michigan State, where he would fulfill the role of his dreams as point guard. Standing 2.06 meters tall and with his exceptional ball-handling, court vision and passing, he quickly developed alongside Larry Bird (who at that time played for Indiana State) into the best players at college level of that era. In 1979 he captured, at the expense of Bird’s team, the coveted NCAA championship in one of the greatest college showdowns ever seen.
