The source of inspiration for this series titled "Species" is not directly influenced by a stripped-down representativeness in reference to the object itself, but also by the depicted reality, which constitutes everyday life. The painting is not merely a linguistic experiment; rather, it is a medium through which things and events that make up life can be analyzed. The aim is to delve into the meta-artistic universe, where the painting speaks about the painting itself. In some cases, the main motive shaping the work is purely the aesthetic configuration of the element, its chromaticity and its form. However, in other works there is an intentional search for irony, through the link created between the image and the title it bears. In other words, a wordplay where multiple interpretations are possible and can generate a double meaning of the concept. This series consists of a collection of small-format works where the main premise is representation through the subjective lens of taste, in contrast to the normatively conceived notion of beauty.
Carlos Asensio was born in Castellón in 1986. At an early age he began his academic training under the tutelage of Cuban artist Amaury Suárez.

His research work has led him to participate in several international scholarly conferences, as well as to publish in humanities journals such as Human Review and Peter Lang.
