The source of inspiration for this series titled "Species" is not directly influenced by a stark representation in reference to the object, but also by the reality represented, which constitutes everyday life. The painting is not merely linguistic experimentation; rather, it is a medium through which things and events that make up life can be analyzed. The aim is to undertake an incursion into the meta-artistic universe, where painting speaks of painting itself. In some cases, the main motive that shapes the piece is purely the aesthetic configuration of the element, its chromaticism and its form. However, in other works there is a deliberate search for irony, through the linkage generated between the image and the title it receives. That is, a play on words where multiple interpretations are possible and can generate a double meaning of the concept. This series consists of a set of small-format works where the main premise is representation under the subjective prism of taste and in opposition to the normative conception of beauty.
Carlos Asensio was born in Castellón in 1986. At a young age he began his academic training under the tutelage of Cuban artist Amaury Suárez.

He has also completed a Studio Program at the Berlin Art Institute where he received lessons from renowned artists such as Bernhard Martin, Larissa Fassler, Nikola Röthemeyer, or Various & Gould. His research work has led him to participate in several international university conferences, as well as to publish in humanities journals such as Human Review or Peter Lang.
Among his highlights are several solo exhibitions, including those at the Centro de Arte Tomás y Valiente in Fuenlabrada, the Museo Municipal de Albacete, and the Centro 14 in Alicante.
