Description from the seller

Exceptional fac-simile edition of the Codex Borgia, one of the most spectacular and important pre-Columbian manuscripts of the Aztec era. This reference edition was produced in 1977 by the Club du Livre (Philippe Lebaud) in Paris. Accordion presentation (leporello) of 76 recto-verso plates, for a total unfolded length of over 10 meters.

A Collector's Copy (Special Edition):
• Rare numbering: Unlike the common edition limited to 1800 copies, this copy bears the letter O.
• "Hors Commerce" status: It is a lettered edition (A to Z), initially reserved for editors' collaborators or the publisher's personal collection, making it a far rarer piece on the market than a standard numbered copy.

Content and Quality:
• Accordion fac-simile (Leporello): Faithful reproduction of the original manuscript kept at the Vatican Library, using a high-quality oilcloth to render the appearance and texture of the historical document.
• Scientific Accompaniment: Includes the volume of commentary and analysis by Karl Anton Nowotny, essential for understanding the ritual and calendrical iconography of the codex.
• Prestige Printing: Produced in Graz (Austria) on the presses of the Akademische Druck- u. Verlagsanstalt, a globally recognized institution for the quality of its reproductions of ancient manuscripts.

Condition:
• Content: The interior (the facsimile and the booklet) is in impeccable condition, "mint."
• Case: The cloth-wrapped protective case is present and sturdy. Note some slight signs of use visible in photos (small marks and discreet wear on one edge), not affecting the object's structure.
