AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Oil on cardboard dated 1924, depicting a leopard drinking at a water source.

A painting capturing a scene of animal life, quite modern for its time. It could be from the San Diego area if one refers to the artist.

Signed in the lower right "M.Braun"

Maurice Braun was born in Hungary and immigrated to the United States at the age of 3.
After six years of study at the National Academy of Design in New York and with William Merritt Chase, Braun established himself as a portraitist and figurative painter in this city.
In 1910, Braun settled in San Diego, California, and two years later, he founded the San Diego Academy of Art.
An almost purely impressionist, Braun deeply believed in the unity of nature and man advocated by the Theosophical movement, as evidenced by his landscapes from the San Diego period.

Good overall condition, a few scratches to note.
