Description from the seller
New Series – Glam
David Law
Photographer-Artist – Creator of contemporary imagery
Multidisciplinary photographer-artist, author and musician, David Law develops a body of work focused on gaze, presence and the perception of the image in urban space. He first made a name for himself with a series dedicated to storefront mannequins, integrated into the city through a subtle play of reflections and superpositions. This exploration of gaze and presence gave rise to an art book published in 2021. Intrigued by the singular aesthetics of collectible dolls and Japanese figurines, he continues this reflection by staging them in the streets of Paris and other European capitals. Through framing, light and composition, these inanimate models acquire a troubling, almost living presence, questioning our relationship to illusion and projection.
New Series – Contemporary Photomosaics
Since 2022, David Law has been developing a new corpus of works based on artistic photomosaic and contemporary digital composition. Each creation is built from a multitude of microvisual fragments generated with current graphic tools, then selected, structured and meticulously recomposed by the artist. From afar, the image appears immediately readable, strong and assertive. Up close, it reveals a dense architecture composed of thousands of subtly intertwined elements. This work rests on a precise artistic direction, a methodical and rigorous construction, a balance sought between fragmentation and unity, a constant demand for visual quality and decorative impact. Through this series, David Law questions the fabrication of contemporary imagery and how a multitude of fragments can give rise to a cohesive and unique work.
Edition & Production
Each work is offered in a limited edition of 8 numbered copies + 4 artist’s proofs (A.P.), signed by the artist and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. The prints are produced on aluminum with a built-in back mount. Printing on luminous white vinyl, mounted between two aluminum panels, with a flexible UV- and humidity-resistant lamination, guaranteeing excellent durability, great longevity, color stability and a modern, contemporary look.
Career
Since 2014, David Law participates in about twenty contemporary art fairs per year in France and across Europe. He is also the official photographer and videographer for several organizers of contemporary art fairs. Parallel to his visual activity, he develops authorial and musical work including 3 novels, a collection of short stories, a graphic novel, a photo book and 5 self-produced CDs. A singer-guitarist, he currently performs with the group FRENZY.
