Description from the seller
New Series – Glam
David Law
Photographer Artist – Creator of contemporary images
Multidisciplinary photographer artist, author and musician, David Law develops work focused on gaze, presence and the perception of image in the urban space. He first made himself known through a series dedicated to storefront mannequins, integrated into the city through a subtle game of reflections and superpositions. This exploration of gaze and presence gave rise to an art book published in 2021. Then intrigued by the singular aesthetics of collectible dolls and Japanese figurines, he extended this reflection by staging them in the streets of Paris and other European capitals. Through framing, light and composition, these inanimate models acquire a striking, almost living presence, challenging our relationship to illusion and projection.
New Series – Contemporary Photomosaics
Since 2022, David Law has been developing a new body of works based on artistic photomosaic and contemporary digital composition. Each piece is created from a multitude of micro-visual fragments generated with current graphic tools, then selected, structured and meticulously recomposed by the artist. From afar, the image appears immediately legible, strong and assertive. Up close, it reveals a dense architecture made of thousands of subtly interwoven elements. This work rests on a precise artistic direction, a methodical and rigorous construction, a balance sought between fragmentation and unity, and a constant demand for visual quality and decorative impact. Through this series, David Law questions the making of contemporary image and how a multitude of fragments can give rise to a coherent and unique work.
Edition & Fabrication
Each work is offered in a limited edition of 8 numbered copies + 4 artist’s proofs (A.P.), signed by the artist and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. The prints are produced on aluminum with a rear-mounted hanging system. Printing on luminous white vinyl, mounted between two aluminum panels, with soft UV- and humidity-resistant lamination, ensuring excellent durability, long-term resistance, color stability and a modern, contemporary finish.
Background
Since 2014, David Law has participated in around twenty contemporary art fairs per year in France and Europe. He is also the designated photographer and videographer for several organizers of contemporary art fairs. In parallel with his visual activity, he develops work as an author and musician, including 3 novels, a collection of short stories, a graphic novel, a photography book and 5 self-produced CDs. A singer-guitarist, he is currently performing with the group FRENZY.
